Appalachian Trail, Week 19, 8.12-17.15

Being in my home mountains has been a great experience!  We have been blessed with beautiful weather and some chances for food and rest.  I have to credit my husband and children for those opportunities.  They worked hard to help us out and make sure we were taken care of.

It has been different to hike through my home mountains as a thru-hiker and not a day hiker.  I can’t just go home at the end of the day and come back next week.  I have to keep going.

It has been fun seeing and hearing reactions   to our trails and mountains.  Most hikers agree that they are beautiful, yet rugged.

There is more beautiful hiking to come next week, as I hike into Maine and continue toward Katahdin.

1800 miles done! Someone got creative with this one.

On the summit of South Kinsman.

On Franconia Ridge, looking back to Lincoln.

Sunbeams off of the summit of Garfield.

Mt. Washington and one of the Lake of the Clouds.

On the good old rockpile, Mt. Washington.

  1. You’ve had quite the journey! Loved your posts as you hike along the trail – looking forward to seeing the pics from my home state (Maine). Safe travels!
